Books’ Lament by Blair Gaulton

Books’ Lament
Full of dust;
the books cry.
Are we now mere decorations on the shelf?
No longer to help people;
discover the beauty of knowledge;
to travel beyond ourselves is a form of wealth.
Take us away, read;
go to places you will not believe.
We help you develop and grow
to learn, to think and discern.
Don’t let us sit there
and be eaten away by insects or dust.

A Book’s Value by Blair Gaulton

A Book’s Value
Book’s perfume
can pull you out of the gloom
draw you into a place
where adventure & learning
set the pace
with time you will laugh cry smile
while you are immersed
hanging on every line and verse
hungry to know more
when you come out
on the other shore
If you love it
you have a book you’ll treasure
forever more.
