Hope ‘n’ the Storm by Blair Gaulton

Hope ‘n’ the Storm
Hope dances in the storm;
not caring about being tattered
or torn.
Being shorn
of its sheen;
does not bother it anymore.
Facing fears down ‘n’ being tested.
It will emerge;
altered ‘n’ stronger than before.
Reaching ‘n’ nearing the other shore.
Feeling sure, it will get there;
succeed ‘n’ more.

Grandfather ‘n’ the Storm by Blair Gaulton

Grandfather ‘n’ the Storm
Eat’n some melons in the garden;
as thunder chuckles outside the door.
Clouds resemble molasses.
I see people pulling out their glasses, to see:
the storm is getting ready to come.
Now we’re done.
Grandfather says,
let’s get inside;
before it arrives.

Grandfather’s Wisdom: Sailing and Storms by Blair Gaulton

Grandfather’s Wisdom:
Sailing and Storms
If you must sail in bad weather;
choose your storm well;
then you’ll not be surprised
by its fury, nor by its changes.
Unlike the one;
that vultures down on you unprepared.
If you don’t have to sail; stay in port!
