Not Numbers People by Blair Gaulton

Another poem I wrote a few years ago which I found again today.

Not Numbers People

We’re not numbers;
one after another.
Each of us
has dreams ‘n’ hopes;
we’d like to acheive.
Does it matter
what we believe?
or where we come from?
We are all human beings;
can’t you see..
what we mean.
We’re not a threat.
Put aside your biases;
and your fears.
We’re people like you
give us time.
Our lives have been torn asunder;
all we want is to live in peace;
with one another.
That is our hopes ‘n’ dreams;
that inspire us to flee
our violent shores.
We want to live a life;
filled with much more.

2 Smiles
Smile is a gift;
gives heart a lift;
makes mood shift;
reaches eyes swift.
Sends you on a happy trip;
as the heart skips.
Mind flips.
Trying to find something to say.
The best thing to do;
is smile away.
