Music and Alzheimers

Music is powerful. It connects us to our memories and the emotions it brings. This association; once it is formed  stays with us for the rest of our lives. Recently, I read an article about music helping people with Alzheimers to remember things. I believe it. I have had relatives with Alzheimers and listening to music they loved did seem to make their memory better afterwards for a period of time. This is very encouraging, and should be studied further to see if it could be incorporated into future therapy for people with Alzheimers. Who knows where this could lead? I am hopeful that this will contribute to new insight into the brain and slowing down the development of Alzheimers.
